Pwnc | Subject: Financial implications of COVID-19 pandemic

Dear Adrian and Isobel,

Thank you for your letter of 5 May 2020 updating the Committee on the potential impacts of the coronavirus crisis on the Wales Audit Office’s delivery and financial position.

The pandemic has necessitated a change in working practices for most public service organisations and the Committee is keen to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the bodies funded directly from the Welsh Consolidated Fund.

I note that your letter already indicates the need to seek supplementary budget funding to address a potentially significant shortfall in your estimated fee income, however, we would be grateful for further detail on the implications for this year’s finances, including any savings and additional costs. Whilst the Committee appreciates that any savings from changes in working practices may be off-set by other costs, it would be helpful to have a full breakdown to enable Members to fully consider the financial implications.

It would be helpful to receive your response by 7 July 2020.

Yours sincerely,

Llyr Gruffydd#

Chair of the Finance Committee
